Full-Depth Stone Wall Volume & Tonnage

Estimate net stone volume and purchase tonnage for a uniform stone wall using entered voids, density, and allowance.

Inputs

Project inputs

Range: at least 0.01 ft

Use measured length along the wall section. Split curved or segmented walls into uniform measured sections and add their results.

Range: at least 0.01 ft

Use the average height for this section; split sections with materially different heights.

Range: at least 0.01 in

Enter the average overall stone-wall thickness. Break stepped or tapered sections into separate estimates and add the results.

Range: 0–100 %

Enter the estimated portion of the wall envelope occupied by open gaps and/or mortar joints. This is not stone porosity and is not calculated by ASTM C97/C97M. Use assembly-specific takeoff or job data; no generic value is assumed.

Range: at least 0.01 lb/ft3

Use supplier or project test data for the selected stone. Do not enter loose-wall/void-adjusted bulk density because the non-stone wall fraction is applied separately. ASTM C97/C97M reports absorption and bulk specific gravity; this field requires density in lb/ft3, not specific gravity.

Range: at least 0 %

Set for stone shape, cutting, breakage, and site handling. Enter 0 only when no added allowance is intended; no universal value is assumed.
